Nursing Homes Seek More CDC Data On Covid Shot’s Effectiveness

The nursing home industry wants the federal government to evaluate the effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccines at preventing deaths and infections among long-term care residents after industry research found new cases declined at facilities that completed a first round of vaccinations.
“The need for urgency on this matter is painfully evident,” the American Health Care Association said in a letter Wednesday to Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“For nearly a year, long term care residents have been unable to visit with their loved ones in-person or participate in enriching social activities,” AHCA President and CEO Mark Parkinson said in the letter.
