Covid-19 Vaccine Mandates Are on the Rise for Nursing Home Workers
More states and employers are requiring nursing home staff to be vaccinated as the latest Delta-driven Covid-19 surge leads to more cases in some facilities.
Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont announced late Friday a vaccine mandate requiring long-term care staffers to get their first dose by Sept. 7. This follows other mandates announced this week, including one in California covering all health workers and a Massachusetts requirement specifically targeting workers in senior facilities.
Illinois and Maryland this week announced mandates that cover just state workers in group settings. New Jersey’s governor on Monday announced a vaccine requirement for health settings including nursing homes, and said workers who aren’t compliant by early next month will require frequent testing.
