Another Voice: Long-Term Care Facilities Need Fully Funded Medicaid
There is no debate that the past eight months have been some of the most difficult and trying times for our country due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and especially challenging for the long-term care industry.
In our New York long-term care facilities, we have truly felt the full brunt of the virus.
With elderly residents who are already vulnerable to begin with, coupled with the fact that many of our residents have underlying health conditions that make them even more susceptible to the virus, we have taken extra precautions and steps to ensure the safety of our residents and staff.
Nursing homes and assisted living communities throughout New York have made tremendous strides in response to this deadly virus, given its vicious asymptomatic and presymptomatic spread. But while such great progress has been made so far, we must not let our guard down. Because the fight against the deadly virus is far from over.
