Connecticut: CT nursing home gets state OK to close; facility seeking new placements for residents

The state has approved a request by a nursing home to cease operations, according to Athena Health Care Systems.
Athena Health Care Systems had said in October that it intended to close Crestfield Rehabilitation Center and Fenwood Manor, located at 565 Vernon St. in Manchester, as the facility is “no longer financially viable.”
Athena filed a petition to close the 155-bed skilled nursing center with the state Department of Social Services.
The company said the state approved the closure and a closure plan submitted to the state was also also approved, the latter on Dec. 6.
“An anticipated closing date is expected to be on or about February 5, 2024, or sooner,” Athena said in a statement.
