LETTER: Kudos to Shaheen, Hassan, for work on behalf of seniors

To the editor:
U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan continue to do a great job protecting New Hampshire’s seniors. They recently signed a bipartisan letter outlining their concerns with the proposed federal staffing mandate from the Biden Administration, and their hard work and support is appreciated more than ever.
Under this mandate, seniors’ access to care would be threatened. New Hampshire is among the top 10 states most impacted by the healthcare worker shortage. Under this mandate, when nursing homes are unable to meet the staffing requirement because they can’t hire enough nurses, they will likely be forced to limit admissions, or even close their doors entirely.
